The blades of the horizontal rake agitator inside the dryer are made of cast steel or thick walled seamless pipes, installed on a circular spindle, with half of the blades facing left and the other half facing right. The speed of the shaft is 7-8 r/min, which is driven by a transmission motor with a reducer. At the same time, automatic steering is set to change the rotation direction of the agitator every 5-8 minutes when the main shaft rotates.

The dried material is added from the center of the shell, and under the stirring of the constantly rotating rake teeth, the surface of the material constantly updates when it comes into contact with the shell wall. The dried material is indirectly heated by steam, causing the moisture in the material to vaporize. The vaporized moisture is promptly extracted by a vacuum pump. The machine can use both sandwich and rake teeth heating methods simultaneously, with a larger heat transfer area and higher thermal efficiency, resulting in higher drying efficiency.
Due to the high degree of vacuum in operation, the surface water vapor pressure of the dried material is much higher than the water vapor pressure in the evaporation space inside the drying machine, which is conducive to the discharge of internal and surface moisture of the dried material, and facilitates the movement of water molecules in the dried material to achieve the drying purpose.

The moisture content or solvent content of the dried material in the vacuum rake dryer can reach up to 90%, while the lowest is only 15%. The dried material can be in the form of slurry, paste, granular, powdery, or fibrous.

The vacuum rake dryer is a horizontal intermittent vacuum drying equipment. Wet materials are evaporated through conduction, and a scraper stirrer is used to continuously remove the materials on the hot surface and move them inside the container to form a circulating flow. After the water evaporates, it is pumped out by a vacuum pump. Suitable for drying small amounts of mud and paste materials that are heat sensitive and oxygen sensitive, with a moisture content range of 15% to 90%.

Performance characteristics of vacuum rake dryer
1. Strong adaptability and wide application: Due to the use of jacket heating and high vacuum exhaust in the rake type vacuum dryer, it is almost suitable for all materials with different properties and states, especially for drying explosive, easily oxidized, and paste like materials;
2. Low steam consumption: Due to the fact that vacuum rake dryers often use steam to pass through the jacket and use latent heat to heat materials, the steam consumption per kilogram of finished products is relatively small. Generally, evaporating 1kg of water requires 1.3-1.8kg of steam consumption;
3. Easy to operate: The vacuum rake dryer is easy to operate, has a small staffing requirement, and low labor intensity. The reduction of material leakage loss has improved environmental hygiene.
4. Good product quality: Due to the continuous forward and backward rotation of the rake teeth during the drying process, the dried material is stirred evenly, avoiding overheating of the material and making it easy for moisture to escape, resulting in products with low temperature and extremely low moisture content. Due to the fine particle size of the product, it can be packaged without crushing;
5. Without air intervention, the condenser load is very low, making it easy to recover material solvents;
6. According to the different characteristics and requirements of dry materials, the sealing system of the dryer can choose between packing seal and mechanical seal, and the special design ensures sealing performance and service life;


Technical improvement of vacuum rake dryer
The vacuum rake dryer, as a standardized product of Baide drying, has formed a series of products. During long-term manufacturing and debugging, some urgent improvement issues were discovered in the rake dryer: due to the unreasonable design of the fluid flow channel structure, the drying efficiency is low, which directly restricts the effectiveness of the equipment; The structural design is not very reasonable and difficult to meet the requirements of large-scale production. There is still a certain gap in technical level compared to foreign countries, and special types of rake vacuum dryers still need to be introduced from abroad.
In recent years, with the rapid development and increasing scale of the chemical industry, there has been a higher demand for the production capacity of drying systems. In response to the development of new industries, Baide Drying has developed and formed four types of rake vacuum dryers, namely: rake vacuum dryer, rake knocking rod vacuum dryer, blade rake vacuum dryer, and double screw belt rake vacuum dryer.
